Of course you can be religious and pro-choice!! Faith is the backbone of every movement for human rights and social justice. Faith allowed here. Women must be free to make decisions about childbearing according to their own faith and conscience. While our members do not always agree about such theological issues as the moment of "ensoulment" or the times when abortion is the appropriate ethical choice, we do all agree that government has no place in these complex and private moral decisions. We trust women to know what is best for themselves and their families. We Proclaim Our Faith Aloud!
Read Rev. Turner's papers:
As the national multi-faith alliance dedicated to ensuring reproductive freedom, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice helps individuals and groups to learn about the spiritual and theological dimensions of human sexuality and choice. We provide a variety of resources for those who want to understand and advocate for reproductive justice on religious grounds.
"The rights of women to act
as moral agents in control of their own bodies is at the heart
of any assertion that all people are made in the image of God.
Women were important to Jesus, and in the early Christian
Church where they were valued as co-equals. The protection of
reproductive rights is one way that we honor these important
faith values." ---The Rev. Dr. Brian Q. Newcomb,
member since 2001
